The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar

The Linford Band is excited to be playing the world famous Million Dollar Cowboy Bar this coming Thursday and Friday.  It's a great place to dance and take in the authentic Jackson Hole scene.  We hit the stage around 9 and have more songs than we can possibly get through, but we'll sure try.

Big Piney/Pinedale

The Linford Band is headed just over the mountains to play a private event in the Big Piney/Pinedale area.  We love it over there, close to home, great music, wide open spaces and young people making a go of the ranch life.  I thought I'd throw it back to our first gig over there.  I can't believe it's been so many years since we first burned our feet through our boots at the Sublette County Fair, there's no chance of that happening this weekend, although we may get snowed in this time of year.

We will be playing with some new guys this weekend.  John Clemens gets some sweet fills in with the Mandolin, Banjo and alternate tunings on the guitar and sometimes bass when Jeff Smith (of twenty paces) is doing double duty with Bass and Keys.  We are excited to be playing this weekend with Greg Tominc, he's been a regular at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in the past and is a great drummer.

The music plays on.  Hope to see you out there.

October

October has been exciting so far.  A fabulous trip to Chicago sandwiched in between two gigs up in the Wilson/Moose area.  They were private parties so we didn't put out a shingle for fans, family and friends to come join us but we had a couple of great nights.  The Linfords Joined Twenty Paces for what ended up as a high dollar Hoot, tons of fun, lots of bongos, the best people watching from stage I've ever done, the most audience participation and the coolest background to date.  There was a huge screen behind us that scrolled gorgeous photos as we played.  Loved it.  I flew out the next morning bright and early with my guitar in tow to work on some new music for our last gig of the season and our very last show with our Linford Band drummer, Dave.  It's safe to say it was an amazing send off.  We played for several hours in a packed roadhouse, burned through all our set lists, and came away with a fat lip (collision with a dancer, speaker and mic) a peanut bucket of cash and some great stories to tell.

We are sad to say goodbye to Dave as a part of our band, but he remains our friend and neighbor and barber, so in truth, we haven't parted ways.  He is taking a break from the music to make room for more important things in his life right now.  Life continues on, things change, but the music remains.

Winter may bring new music, a new band member, you just never know.

Everything That Glitters

My first conscious memory of this song was as a young Rodeo Queen putting on my lip gloss in the rearview mirror of my Daddy's old truck before a rodeo where I rode my Red Pepper Chex and waved to the crowd.  The first time I sang it was with my two brothers the year I joined their band the summer after my freshman year at Utah State University.  Since then, I can't remember how many times we've sung it, but it never fails to get me.  When Cal and I recorded it for Jake on his mission in Florida I outright bawled when we got to the part about Old Red, having lost a couple of Old Reds already in my lifetime.  We have the late Dan Seals to thank for this song that has become a binding thread throughout our lives, and Thanks Kristy Anderson Mayes for requesting it.

John Dunnigan's Quarter Horse

One of our very dear friends, John Dunnigan is in the hospital with an acute case of Pancreatitus.  It's been a tough go for him and his family.  This is our get well card to him.  We love John, not just for his musical talent and the way he has influenced us, but for the person he is.  Take away the music, and you have a man who cares about other people and who truly sees the good.  In a potentially jealousy poisoned career, John shows time and time again how to nurture and encourage others.  That is a rare gift.  I'll be posting a link for you to go and donate to John for his medical bills.  You won't be sorry you did.  https://helpjohndunnigan.wordpress.com/

Summer Songs

This is a little video we actually took last summer of us working up one of Cal's new songs.  It's going to be on the new album we're working on right now expected to be out this summer.  I was glad we captured some of our process it'll be fun to compare the album version to this very raw version.

(no auto tune was used or abused in the making of this video (-: )
