Brave Cadette Review

It's been a long while since I've been to the Brave Cadette Review, but this year my brother Cal and I will be out supporting the girls in their fundraiser for the High School Dance Team.  Our daddy used to auction cakes for them and I danced to "California Girls" in new stiff cuffed Lee Jeans and a pink Jr. Brave Cadette t-shirt when I was an aspiring dance team member.  Cheerleading won out for me when the time came but I loved watching my friends and eventually my bonus daughter Kelsie dance on the team when she lived with us.  One of the fun things about raising your kids in the same town you grew up is the connection to history and the nostalgia for yesteryear.  Oh, and those fresh perms.  Wow.  Just. . . . . . wow.  Anyway, hope to see you all out supporting these talented young ladies and the leaders and coaches who help them accomplish their dreams.  I hear it's going to be a night to remember.  Thursday March 29th, Afton Wyoming.

Downeaster Alexa

We are so close to our Brigham City show we can taste it.  Here is just one of the songs we are planning for the evening, and there's a story behind every song.  Can't wait to see all our Utah friends and family.

Big Piney/Pinedale

The Linford Band is headed just over the mountains to play a private event in the Big Piney/Pinedale area.  We love it over there, close to home, great music, wide open spaces and young people making a go of the ranch life.  I thought I'd throw it back to our first gig over there.  I can't believe it's been so many years since we first burned our feet through our boots at the Sublette County Fair, there's no chance of that happening this weekend, although we may get snowed in this time of year.

We will be playing with some new guys this weekend.  John Clemens gets some sweet fills in with the Mandolin, Banjo and alternate tunings on the guitar and sometimes bass when Jeff Smith (of twenty paces) is doing double duty with Bass and Keys.  We are excited to be playing this weekend with Greg Tominc, he's been a regular at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in the past and is a great drummer.

The music plays on.  Hope to see you out there.

Bands and More Bands

The Linfords will no longer be joining forces with Rich Carr and the Twenty Paces Band.  We wish them all the best and hope to see them out there on the road.  Meanwhile, we are concentrating our efforts on The Linford Band and can't wait to see our Pinedale/Big Piney friends this coming weekend.  Oh, and if you get a chance I highly recommend you stop in at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in the next couple weeks.  Marshall Star was playing last night and they had a great set list and were a lot of fun to dance to. The music goes on.

You Are My Sunshine

Our Great Aunt Eva is turning 103 this Friday and this song is in honor of her.  My Great Uncle Ern would play this guitar around the campfire and at his gigs when my Mom was a little girl and it inspired all the music The Linfords enjoy now.  Happy birthday Eva, we are grateful for your long and storied life.

Merry Christmas

The Linfords would like to wish all of you a Merry Christmas and joyous Holiday Season.  We wish you Magic and Music and LOVE.

I don't know if you've discovered the wonderful world of Podcasts, but now is as good a time as any.  Our friend Alan has a great podcast that gives you an inside look at the Fair Industry and the fabulous people who make the magic happen.  Alan contacted me and asked to re-air my interview with him from last year, and he also has a second season in the works.  I hope you'll give it a listen and rate the podcast, I know he'd appreciate your support.
